Virtual Training: Use of the Orion DA App
About the Event
Hands-on training from the comfort of your home on how to use the Orion Damage Assessment App. This training is for EMA Volunteers who could serve on a Damage Assessment Team (DAT) to conduct Damage Assessment (DA) for any jurisdiction in Clinton County immediately following a disaster.
Training will require pre-coordination for members and is not a “prepare the day of” type training. Examples of steps required include:
- Providing Name, Mobile Phone, and email for account setup;
- Download of the iOS or Android version of the app;
- Test log-on and sync of the training incident;
- Pre-photograph the house or business you are going to use for your damage assessment (does not need to be damaged, just intended for use in learning how to enter information).
A checklist will be emailed to registered attendees one (1) week prior to training to walk members through the steps above.
This training is important as it is the first major step following a disaster to identify the scope and severity of impact to our community. Following a disaster, this information would determine if our community has met the threshold for disaster assistance at the State or Federal level.
The data collected from this training event will be used to train county Orion Administrators, so the more data, the better.
