Outdoor Warning Sirens 7 March

Outdoor Warning Siren Notice

Posted: 12:15 pm on Saturday, 7 March 2026

Today’s scheduled outdoor warning siren test was cancelled due to the forecasted potential for severe weather in the area. The Wilmington Police Department Communications Section placed the system that controls the siren activation into manual mode, which should have prevented the normal automated test that occurs on the first Saturday of each month at noon.

Unfortunately, technology is great until it isn’t. The system apparently triggered despite being placed in manual mode, resulting in the sirens sounding.

As of 12:10 PM, a check of the Storm Prediction Center shows no active watches for our area, and the National Weather Service Wilmington office has issued no warnings for Clinton County.

Residents should remain weather aware today, as the potential severe weather window began around noon and is expected to continue into the evening hours. Monitor reliable weather sources and be prepared to take appropriate action if warnings are issued later today.
