Gobble-Gobble 2025

Did I Win a Turkey?

By Clinton County EMA

It’s that time of year again — when phones ring from strange numbers, hearts race, and people across Clinton County wonder if answering with “Gobble-Gobble” might just win them a Thanksgiving bird.

Last year’s Turkey & Gratitude Giveaway was one for the books. We made 16 calls before someone finally answered, and when they did, they forgot the magic phrase and just said, “Hello.” Realizing their mistake, they let out a very… un-Thanksgiving-like word. (We can’t print it here, but let’s just say the turkey wasn’t the only one getting roasted.) It took a total of 32 calls before we had a winner, but we got there — and the laughter was worth every ring.

This year, we’re upping the game. Thanks to a few generous friends — all private

donors (Mr. Star Trek & Hester Prynne), no taxpayer dollars — we’re hoping to give away multiple birds during the week of November 17th. Each bird is a plump 14-pounder from Johnson Farms right here in Wilmington, and every winner will walk away with bragging rights and a great story to tell.

We’re also opening the door for new sponsors who’d like to donate a bird (or two). The more birds, the more fun — and the more chances for Clinton County families to celebrate with a smile. If you’d like to join the flock, contact Clinton County EMA at 937-382-6673 or email ema@clintoncountyohio.us.

We’ll be going live on Facebook again for each round of calls. Viewers can watch the chaos unfold, place their bets on how many rings it’ll take this time, and maybe even win a few surprise prizes in the chat.

As for the donors joining us on the livestream — well, they’re a little camera shy. We’re working on it. With enough encouragement (and maybe a slice of pie), we just might get them to say Gobble-Gobble too.

So don’t forget — registration closes Saturday, November 15th at noon, and calls start Monday morning, November 17th. Keep your phones close, and remember:

Say it before hello — “Gobble-Gobble, I’m thankful for [something you’re thankful for], did I win a turkey?”

Because if that’s us on the other end of the line, you’ll be thankful you did.
