High Water Closures

Updated: 9:18 am on 5 March 2026

High Water Closes Several Clinton County Roads

Recent rainfall across Clinton County has led to high water covering several rural roadways. As a result, multiple roads are currently closed for safety until water levels recede.

The following roads are closed due to high water:

  • Port William Road between Faulkner and Bone

  • Swartz Road

  • Wise Road between Swartz and Webertown

  • Hales Branch Road between Jonesboro and Cochran

In addition, Polk Road remains open, but high water warning signs are posted in two locations, and drivers should proceed with caution.

Water over roadways can be deceptive. Even a small amount of moving water can make a road unsafe to travel and may hide damage to the pavement beneath the surface. If you encounter water across the roadway, the safest decision is to turn around and find an alternate route.

County crews will continue monitoring conditions, and roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents are encouraged to slow down on rural roads, watch for barricades and warning signs, and allow extra travel time if detours are necessary.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while these temporary closures remain in place.
