Residents of Clinton County, Ohio, should prepare for a significant weather event beginning Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and continuing through Saturday, April 5. 

  • Wednesday: ENHANCED risk of severe weather.

  • Thursday: SLIGHT risk (15% to 29%) of severe weather. Primary strong to severe

    storm threat should be focused near/south of the I-71 corridor (includes 95% of Clinton County).

  • Wednesday thru Saturday: SIGNIFICANT risk for excessive rain/flooding (6" to 8" over this period).



Timing:

  • The timing here shows the most likely onset period of the greatest severe threat.

  • Some storms, including with hail potential, may occur Wednesday morning into early afternoon. The timing of this is not shown here.



Clinton Co. EMA: Due to Wednesday’s forecast of unseasonably warm temperatures, high humidity, and strong wind shear, conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms capable of producing tornadoes. Residents should prepare now by reviewing their shelter plans and ensuring they have multiple ways to receive emergency weather alerts.

Potential Impacts:

  • Flooding: The expected rainfall may lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Residents in the southern parts of Clinton County should be particularly vigilant.​

  • Severe Storms: Thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.​

Preparedness Recommendations:

  1. Stay Informed: Regularly monitor local news outlets and the National Weather Service for updates.​

  2. Emergency Kit: Assemble an emergency kit with essentials such as water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, and first-aid supplies.​

  3. Property Precautions: Secure outdoor items, clear gutters and drains, and consider using sandbags in flood-prone areas to mitigate water intrusion.​

  4. Evacuation Plans: Familiarize yourself with local evacuation routes and have a plan in place in case evacuation becomes necessary.​

  5. Avoid Flooded Areas: Do not attempt to walk or drive through flooded streets; water depth and current can be deceptive and dangerous.​
